Their words become dangerous. Their friendship becomes essential. Their fight becomes bigger than themselves.
Inspired by the banned book Novas Cartas Portuguesas, this bold production reimagines the voices of Maria Teresa Horta, Maria Isabel Barreno and Maria Velho da Costa, three Portuguese writers who challenged dictatorship through words, resistance and radical solidarity.
Through theatre, poetry and contemporary performance, Voices Collective Company brings “The Three Marias” to life in a powerful exploration of resistance, friendship and artistic freedom. Blending spoken word, movement and ensemble performance, the production brings their story vividly to the stage with urgency, intimacy and emotional force.
Timely, fierce and deeply human, this production celebrates the enduring power of language to challenge authority, inspire solidarity and change history.
