Behind Closed Doors is a raw, intimate LGBTQ+ drama about love, addiction and the terrifying moment when the person who makes you feel safest becomes the person you are most scared of.

Jude and Charlie are young, messy, funny and completely obsessed with each other. What begins as sex, late-night telly, inside jokes and the kind of love that feels impossible to survive without, slowly twists into something darker. As Jude’s drug use spirals and Charlie’s need to protect him turns into control, their relationship becomes a battleground of lies, dependency, violence and desperate attempts to stay together.

Set in one room, with nowhere to hide, Behind Closed Doors pulls the audience into the private world of a queer relationship falling apart in real time. It does not soften the edges, romanticise abuse or pretend love is always enough. Instead, it asks what happens when two people who genuinely love each other are also destroying each other.

Written by Corey Muizelaar and directed by Jason Marc Williams, this stripped-back two-hander is messy, uncomfortable, darkly funny and painfully recognisable. It speaks to the parts of queer love we do not always put on posters: the shame, the secrecy, the survival, the sex, the chaos and the need to be chosen, even when being chosen is not saving you.

For anyone who has loved too hard, stayed too long, or recognised danger only after it felt like home, Behind Closed Doors is a show you will feel in your chest.
